Douma gunfire delays UN chemical attack inspection visit to Syrian town

MIDEAST-CRISIS/SYRIA

International inspectors hoping to get into the Syrian town of Douma, hit by a suspected chemical weapons attack, have been held up by gunfire. The inspectors have been kept away from the site since their arrival in Syria, on Saturday. They were waiting for the go-ahead from a UN advance team, but that team was shot Wednesday. Syrian and Russian forces now control the town. The Assad regime denies chemical weapons were used in the attack on what was one of the last rebel strongholds.
