British MPs have overwhelmingly voted to hold a national election on December 12th, by 438 votes to 20. Tory Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been threatening an election over Brexit, to end what he called the paralysis in British politics. Opposition parties including Labour, wanted the election to be held three days earlier on December 9th, but rallied to the latest bill after their motion was defeated. The bill still has to be considered by Britain's upper chamber, the House of Lords.
