Hong Kong riot police use force to shut down protests on China's National Day

Police in Hong Kong used tear gas and water cannons to disperse thousands of democracy activists in multiple rallies as China celebrated 70 years of Communist rule. Amid raucous protests one activist said: 'Today we are out to tell the Communist Party that Hong Kong people have nothing to celebrate.'
