Calgary imposes heavy escalating fines for failure to remove snow

Calgary is imposing hefty fines to penalize property owners who don't clear their snowy or icy sidewalks within 24 hours. After a grace period to allow for education, the city is ready to impose fines of $250 for first offence and up to $750 a third offence. Repeat offenders could wind up in court.
