The annual Perseid meteor shower, which typically produces roughly 100 meteors an hour at its peak in dark sky locations, is underway. The shower runs from July 17 to Aug. 26, but peaks on the night of Aug. 12–13. Unfortunately, the moon will be 94 per cent illuminated. This means that only the brightest meteors will be visible.
