Bossa Nova king Joã​​​​​​​o Gilberto dead at 88

Brazilian bossa nova pioneer Joã​​​​​​​o Gilberto has died at 88 after helping create one of the great musical genres of the 20th century. The guitarist-songwriter, together with his peer, Antonio Carlos Jobim, helped create and popularize bossa nova, a more subtle version of the big brassy samba music.
