Buttons on stretch of Franklin Avenue in Yellowknife don't do anything, though signs falsely read otherwise

"For walk signal push button," read the all-caps signs attached to traffic light poles on Franklin Avenue in Yellowknife. Below the signs are the pedestrian push-buttons. Pushing them does not trigger the nearby walk signal to flash. Pushing them does nothing at all, in fact. That's the case at several downtown intersections on that avenue.
