Liberal government's firearms bill clears Senate, despite Tory attempts to gut it

The federal Liberal government's firearms legislation, Bill C-71, was passed into law by the Senate last night as Independent senators fought off an attempt by the Conservatives to weaken key provisions of the legislation designed to tackle gun violence.
