Canada adds 106,500 in April, largest monthly gain on record

Canada added 106,500 jobs in April, the most ever recorded in one month. The surge was a surprise because economists were expecting about 12,000 jobs. At least half were full time jobs and the bulk were in the private sector, pushing unemployment down to 5.7 per cent.
