Hurricane Irma, now recorded as the most powerful Atlantic Ocean hurricane in recorded history, made landfall early Wednesday, hitting small islands in the northeast Caribbean. Puerto Rico, Haiti and Cuba are all in its path. Florida could take a direct hit by the weekend.
