U.S. expels 35 suspected Russian spies, sets broad new sanctions

U.S. President Barack Obama struck back at Russia over alleged cyberattacks and interference with the American election. 35 Russian intelligence officers are expelled from the U.S. and sweeping new sanctions take effect. Two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland are being closed, and two leading intelligence services, including four top officers of the military intelligence unit are affected.
