An Ontario woman had a 25-year-old manslaughter conviction overturned after a judge set aside her guilty plea in the death of her stepdaughter. The decision in favour of Maria Shepherd, of Brampton, Ont., involved evidence presented by a now-disgraced pathologist Charles Smith.
