Aunt of Alan Kurdi, drowned Syrian boy, did not apply to sponsor family in Canada

The aunt of drowned Syrian boy Alan Kurdi had tried to help her brother's family escape Syria, but only applied to sponsor her other brother. However, a B.C. MP says he wrote to Canadian Immigration Minister Chris Alexander asking the boy's family be granted refugee status.
